SICPA Uganda helped underserved communities
SICPA Uganda, in partnership with the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), launched a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative to address water scarcity. By installing and maintaining 30 Public Stand taps (PSPs), they ensured easy access to clean water in underserved communities. The impact was felt throughout society, reaching up to 12,000 people. Beyond water, SICPA planted 350 trees, aligned with environmental goals. They also empowered female students education on health and hygiene, and also donated scholastic materials with the aim of bridging educational gaps.
Access to Clean Water
In an innovative project, SICPA Uganda, in partnership with the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) launched a pioneering CSR initiative to address water scarcity in Uganda's Busia, Bugiri, and Tororo districts through the installation of 30 Public Stand Taps (PSPs). The vision was bold yet simple: Install 30 Public stand Points within two months, reducing the average distance to water access and curbing water-borne diseases by 20% within the first year. With each tap serving up to 70 homesteads, the impact rippled through the fabric of society, reaching a population of up to 12,000 people.
SICPA Uganda's General Manager, Suzan Kitariko, along with other staff members and dignitaries from our partners and local community leaders, commissioned a PSP site with three water taps at Ndifakulya Primary School. This facility will benefit over 1,000 students and staff, significantly improving their daily lives and educational experience.
Trees Planting Initiative
As part of its commitment towards environment SICPA Uganda planted 350 fruit and indigenous trees at the school aligned with the Ministry of Water and Environment's ambitious tree planting targets by 2026. These living sentinels will act as guardians against climate change and nurture ecosystems while providing the community with a sustainable source of fruits.
Empowering Health and Education
Beyond water access, SICPA Uganda, in partnership with Afripads Limited, extended its impact by addressing the menstrual hygiene challenges of female students. They educated them on menstrual health and distributed reusable sanitary pads, empowering girls to pursue education with dignity as a broader commitment to gender equality and women’s health.
The initiative also included the donations of school supplies, bridging educational gaps and supporting academic success in underserved communities.
