Issuance and reuse of trusted credentials
Complementary digital and physical identity solutions can be successfully combined to improve privacy protection and compliance as well as encourage time-saving cross-border adoption.
Challenge
Save time, money and simplify the user experience
In the Internet of the future, self-sovereign Digital Identity systems will connect and interact globally, enabling the verification, issuance and reuse of trusted credentials by different authorities in multiple jurisdictions.
This saves time and money and aids adoption by simplifying the user experience. Interoperability between different cross-border platforms and testing of legacy and digital security features are critical components for solving this challenge.
SICPA’s action
Integrate verifiable, consent-based credentials
Connect US and EU identity platforms and test security features—such as European digital signatures used in legacy systems; privacy-preserving biometric tools; and wallet-less applications—to increase transaction security, levels of assurance and inclusivity.
Replace mobile phone storage with cloud agent storage of verifiable credentials, and enable secure, user-friendly multi-factor authentication under the control of users at the point of verification.
Benefits
Global, secure and user-driven digital identity
Government authorities in Europe and the USA can share, issue and reuse digital identity credentials regardless of local regulations, data-privacy policies and legacy infrastructure, stimulating widespread and seamless adoption.
