SICPA Malaysia wanted to adopt the Agile/Scrum methodology as part of its processes. To achieve this, Vinothini Rajendran was hired in February 2019. Experienced in the domain, she was previously handling a team in the telecommunication industry. Today, Vinothini is fully integrated in her team and in the company.
Why did you join SICPA? What convinced you to join SICPA?
SICPA was willing to adopt the AGILE/SCRUM methodology. This provided me with a perfect space to expand my Agile knowledge beyond the software space and implement it into a different industry.
Why do you enjoy working at SICPA?
SICPA provides me with an environment allowing me to interact with people across different organisational levels and across various functional areas without any restrictions. It gives me the opportunity to learn and grow in my role, keeping me excited and motivated by my work. Having the chance to keep learning about engineering and SICPA’s products is also a huge advantage.
What did SICPA bring to you professionally and personally?
There is an awesome working culture involving people from various countries and cultural backgrounds at SICPA. It is a unique experience that you do not get in many organisations. Personally, the ability to learn and explore various solutions on my day to day work is something I cherish a lot.
What is your main objective in your job?
My main objective is to ensure a complete synergy between the Product owner and the Team, resulting in a successful project delivery.
Describe your typical working day at SICPA?
My job is to facilitate the team development and provide a conducive environment for them to deliver their job. For example, remove possible obstacles that the team might face.
What kind of interactions do you experience between teams, departments or even countries in your daily work at SICPA?
Almost all the interactions at SICPA can be defined as very close collaboration as everyone is depending on each other for successful project delivery.
What are the dimensions you like the most in your job at SICPA?
Team spirit and close collaboration between colleagues.
According to you, what are the key soft skills necessary in your job?
People management and conflict resolution.
If you had an advice to give to people willing to follow the same path, what would it be?
Do not knock people out with the Agile theory. Being agile is about honouring the principles and values that create agility instead of following procedures to the letter.
