Before joining, I knew SICPA as a security solutions company, mostly involved in the banknotes protection business. I became aware of the other interesting business areas only through training and briefings in the company. 

I decided to join SICPA mainly due to the fascinating projects and technologies in place that were presented to me during the hiring process. I could see many challenging tasks, that could be managed by applying interesting and popular technologies. I also got in touch with another SICPA employee who shared with me information about SICPA’s welcoming culture and very nice working atmosphere. I also learned that SICPA has a multicultural environment and family-oriented mindset, which motivated me even more.

When I joined SICPA, I had 15 years of international experience in large software development projects. I worked 10 years as a full-time Java Developer, 3 years as a Development Team Leader and 2 years as a Software Development Manager.

First, I do a very interesting job which allows me to grow and learn every day. Armed with the newest technologies, my job is to build simple and sustainable solutions that resolve complex technical problems. That makes me feel motivated and enthusiastic with a great passion for my work. Secondly, I am surrounded by motivated professionals, passionate about technology, pragmatic and driven by business priorities. It creates a very positive and pleasant working atmosphere. Moreover, my team is very friendly, happy to help and discuss with each other. It is a multicultural environment that brings me to many parts of the world every day.

Professionally, it leaves me room to grow and move forward. It satisfies my professional needs and goals. Personally, I am happy to come to work every day and I am enjoying it at its fullest. And, it also gives me the possibility to balance my private and professional goals and wishes without compromising one or the other. 

Every morning, we meet in short stand-up meetings, defined by the Agile methodology that we follow, during which each team member shares their progress and their issues encountered the day before. After this exchange, I go through my tasks, my e-mails and other collaborative tools we use, to prioritise them and find out if there is any issue where my expertise is needed before digging further into my work. Only once all these steps are completed, I can start working on my usual development tasks. During the day, I also usually participate in many technical related discussions, code reviews and expertise and experience discussions.

What I like most about SICPA is the open-minded environment, the passion for new technologies, the friendly spirit and the good collaboration. 

I dreamt about being a scientist, about inventing things and making the world a better place. I am glad that I can still contribute to that mission even though I am not a scientist.
