2018 Banknote Conference

It’s easy to fall into the cliché of rodeos and cowboys when thinking of Texas, but there is much to see in this big southern state! Indeed, Texas is home to one of the United States’ largest banknote printing plants. The plant, known as Ft. Worth US Bureau of Engraving & Printing, produces half of the greenbacks that are in circulation today.

This year, the Lone Star State is hosting one of the banknote industry’s largest events, the Banknote Conference, which has attracted 700 technology providers, security printers and government officials from all over the world. The Conference will be held in Dallas, May 21-24, 2018.

Capitalizing on this distinctive event, SICPA will be presenting some of its most recent developments for banknote security including its new specimen series "ECHO" developed following the Banknote Identification for People with Impaired Vision study. The project, whose preliminary results were initially unveiled during the 2017 Currency Conference, was designed to find a way to make banknotes accessible to all users, including the visually-impaired. The series features and integrates distinctive tactile features which facilitate the identification of each banknote. ECHO was designed by Swiss award-winning designer Manuela Pfrunder.
